 FAQs

  • A psychological evaluation is a structured testing process led by a licensed psychologist to understand how you think, feel, and function day to day. It isn’t a single test. Instead, it’s a tailored mix of conversation, questionnaires, and brief cognitive tasks designed to address your concerns and answer your specific questions.

  • Yes, evaluations are covered by many major insurance carriers, including Aetna, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Florida, CIGNA, United Healthcare, and more. Co-pays may vary across individual plans.

Additionally, we offer competitive out-of-pocket rates. See our insurance & pricing page for more details.

  • Our evaluation happens in two parts:

    1. Initial evaluation (60–90 minutes): A licensed psychologist leads a guided conversation and administers questionnaires and brief cognitive tasks.

    2. Feedback session (~1 week later, up to 30 minutes): Your psychologist reviews the results, answers questions, and outlines next steps.

  • I just got my results. What’s next?
Your report is a tool you can use in whatever way serves you best:

Share it with your work or school to request accommodations or communicate your needs more clearly.

Provide it to a physician, such as a psychiatrist, if the findings suggest medication may be helpful.

Use it in therapy with your current provider, or with a TrueSelf therapist if you’d like continued support, to align goals, build skills, and create a plan based on what the evaluation clarified.

Keep it for personal insight. Many people use their results and recommendations to better understand themselves and make meaningful adjustments to routines, habits, and daily life.

  • TrueSelf does not prescribe medication. Our role is to provide comprehensive evaluations to help determine whether ADHD or other concerns may be present, along with personalized treatment recommendations. If medication may be appropriate, we can help guide you toward qualified psychiatrists or medical providers for further care. We also offer therapy and supportive strategies to help you move forward with clarity and confidence.

  • Not at all. While many of our therapists specialize in ADHD and other neurodivergent experiences such as autism, you do not need a diagnosis to begin therapy at TrueSelf. We provide support for a wide range of concerns, including anxiety, depression, mood challenges, life transitions, and everyday stress. Whether you’re looking for support managing ADHD, navigating other challenges, or simply want a space to better understand yourself and grow, you are welcome here.
